let me share a couple of personal tricks that I use at home, when I feel like whipping a little home remedy.
If my skin feels a little dry and I am in need of a plumping remedy, I mix a table spoon of aloe vera gel, honey and peeled cucumber. Wash your face to ensure the mixture doesn't absorb impurities, apply to the face and relax for 20 minutes. Just rinse with warm water and feel the difference in your skin.
If you are feeling a little excess oil in your skin, mix aloe vera gel and tea trea oil. Whip it up and apply to a clean face before you go to bed. Dont forget to protect your pillow. Rinse in the morning with warm water
And the ultimate home exfoliator, one of my absolute favourite concoctions.
Mix a table spoon of grounded coffee and a table spoon of aloe vera gel. Blend until it makes a paste. Apply to the face and move the tips of your fingers in circular motion to remove dead skin cells. Leave it on for 15 minutes to get the hydrating benefits of the aloe and rinse well.
It will wake your skin up and you will look radiant.

When choosing aloe vera skincare, look out for the following:
- The highest percentage of aloe vera gel
- The lowest amount of added ingredients
- If any added ingredients, they should be non-toxic
I must say that additives are a must if we want any formulation to last for more than a couple of days and in fact, but look for non toxic preservatives (often non-toxic) like citric acid, Potassium sorbate to keep pure Aloe Vera gel from molding, Xanthan gum and vitamin C
Avoid ingredients like
- sodium benzoate
- propylene glycol
